Now that that the holidays are in full swing, entertaining out-of-town family and friends may cause your house to feel a little crowded. Although sharing close quarters is part of the Christmastime family festivities, it can also be a tad bit challenging especially when hosting a large intergenerational clan with varied interests and physical abilities.
This holiday, I wanted to find a fun way to get everyone outside and active rather than just grazing around my dining room table or sitting in front of the TV.
Spending an afternoon at Topgolf proved to be the perfect place to hold a family holiday gathering that everyone could enjoy. With so many convenient Topgolf venues in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, we caravanned over to the to their location at The Colony, Texas on an unseasonably warm winter’s day.
The neat thing about Topgolf is that it’s a game that anyone can play no matter if you’ve ever hit the links before. You score points by hitting a micro-chipped golf ball at a giant dartboard-like target on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the bulls-eye and the further the distance, the more points you can earn.
Everyone one from my 8-year-old niece to my 80-year old mom not only enjoyed the competitive fun, but also the great food. We ordered a sampling of appetizers and sharable treats for the table including Topgolf’s signature nachos, grilled “backyard” wings, mushi and scrumptious quesadillas. The grownups also enjoyed the tasty adult beverages from the full-service bars and upscale amenities.
You’ll find it easy to host a holiday outing or large gathering at Topgolf this season because they offer all-inclusive packages that start at about $44 per guest. It includes two hours of unlimited game play in two bays, delicious food featuring local specialties and unexpected creations, and amazing drinks, as well as a dedicated staff person to make sure everything runs smoothly.
That was a big plus because this allowed me to actually enjoy intentional time spent dedicated to being with my family without having to wait on anyone or even clean up afterwards.
This Christmas, don’t let the stress of hosting a holiday function turn you into a Scrooge. Just get into the swing of the holidays at Topgolf and become a Santa that is a par above.
The fun at Topgolf extends through the holidays and into winter all season long. Looking for a fun activity for the kids during winter break or in the New Year? Check out the Topgolf Winter Academy.
