Now that we’ve said so long to summer, it’s time for cooler weather, colorful leaves, and of course the great State Fair of Texas. This year’s big shindig runs from Sept. 29-Oct. 22 at Fair Park , just two miles east of downtown Dallas.
When my girls were little, I used to take them to see the iconic Big Tex and pull them around in my wagon all across the fairgrounds. I selfishly carted them to visit all my fair favorites including fun exhibits, livestock shows and creative arts competitions.
Unbeknownst to them, my kids didn’t even realize there was a Midway with games and rides until they nearly got to Middle School!
Well now that they’re teens, that all has changed.
Not only are they way too big for the wagon, but they’d much prefer to leave mom at home and go see Big Tex with their friends.
Who could blame them? This year the State Fair of Texas offers a ton of thrilling attractions for teens. Best of all, many of them don’t even require you to buckle in or ride upside down.
